the story
“Moving doesn’t change who you are. It only changes the view outside your window” Rachel Hollis

The view outside my window has changed so many times that I have lost the count. Nevertheless, each view was accompanied by a fresh perspective, a unique opportunity, or a new meaning to life. The absence of any of these experiences would have assuredly made my life dull, boring, and repetitive. Whether small or big, each view formed a cornerstone of my journey that led me to step from the role of an educator to a writer, and now to a consultant.

Having said that, I share with you two experiences that have played a pivotal role in shaping me into who I am today. And, I truly hope that moving henceforth the views you see help you in catalyzing your capabilities. Otherwise, Capability Catalyst would lose its essence.
why soft skills?

Since my father served in the Indian army, I was raised in various corners of the country. Accordingly, the opportunity to live in a metropolitan became a reality only after I got married. I was essentially a small-town girl who was suddenly introduced to the dynamic and fast-paced life of Delhi, and constantly yearned to delve into an exciting career. But it wasn’t as simple or essay at it seemed.

After a brief period of working in a consultancy and then in sales, I decided to get into teaching. I clearly recall the time when I applied to one of the leading schools in Delhi while I pursued bachelor’s in education. To my utter surprise, I was shortlisted for the interview. Amassing courage I headed to the school and was totally shocked to see the huge number of applicants who were being interviewed. Soon the little butterflies in my stomach started creating a storm and I was ready to run away. Considering escape to be the only solution, I decided to speak to my husband only to inform him about my decision.

However, the universe had something else in store for me. After talking to him, I retraced my steps and reversed my decision! It was his deep faith in my abilities and his strong belief in my capabilities that changed my life forever. The rest, as they say is history. After a rigorous round of interview, I became an educator in one of the top schools of Delhi.

This incident brought to my notice the importance of confidence, communication, earnestness, body language, first impression, and multiple more aspects, all of which fall under the ambit of soft skills.

Many people face similar struggles. Some overcome and others give up. I almost gave up before I overcame it. Having seen both the sides of the coin, I wish to help each and every individual who wants to succeed but is unsure of the path to follow.

rediscovery:

My journey into the realm of Image Management is a magical experience that is still transforming me into what I have always wanted to be.

Elegance, poise, grace, and composure have always fascinated me. However, somewhere amidst my diverse roles as a daughter, wife, daughter-in-law, and mother I seemed to have forgotten that, there once existed a vibrant, energetic, and confident ‘Anjali’, who enthusiastically took up new opportunities and enjoyed the process of her self-growth.

With passing years when I stepped into the middle-age, I saw an older version of myself, uncared and unloved by none other than me. Around the same time the social media bug bit me and I craved for attention. This resulted in sharing my pics on Facebook, only to accumulate likes. Interestingly, that was when I came across the concept of Image Management & Soft Skills which seemed to offer the aspects that had always captivated me. And, I took my plunge…

Today as a soft skills trainer and image consultant, I am aware of who I am. Stepping into image management has restored my confidence and has helped me evolve into a better version of myself.

Now, that I have learned to add a “Twinkle to my Wrinkle”, I can help you in doing so too!!

So, I, Anjali Basra, who is a mixed bag of experiences, extend my services to those who wish to age like fine wine and get better with time.
